Final Report

Plain City students will achieve a 1% increase in the number of students reaching the reading benchmark from the beginning of the 2016-17 school year to end of the 2016-17 school year.

Plain City’s average increase for the 2016-17 school year was 4.42%

Action Steps

All students were tested at the beginning of the school year using the DIBELS assessment.

Our Reading Specialist and Reading Aides worked with students who are well below grade level.

Teachers worked with all students using leveled readers, district materials, informational text, and student planners.

Professional development, Professional Learning Communities, and Child Study meetings were scheduled for the purpose of unpacking standards, training teachers on reading strategies, sharing interventions strategies and creating higher level thinking lessons and assessments.   

7 teachers were able to attend the PLC conference to increase knowledge of productive collaboration.

Math Goal #2

Measurement

Plain City students, in grades 3rd- 6th, will see an overall 1% increase in their SAGE math proficiency scores from the end of the 2015-16 school year to the end of the 2016-17 school year.

The overall increase for grades 3-6 was 2%

Action Steps

Teachers were able to participate in training so they could increase their ability to create and administer common assessments. They also spent time unpacking standards and aligning their instruction with team members. Teachers were able to incorporate manipulative use and technology more frequently in their daily instruction. Some common assessments were created.

Students will take the DIBELS test at the beginning and end of the school year. The composite score results will be compared to determine the amount of growth for the year.
