PLAIN CITY, UT — April is officially blooming at Plain City Elementary, and while our halls are usually filled with Panther Blue, White, and Black, this month we are adding a vibrant splash of purple to the mix.
In honor of the Month of the Military Child, Plain City Elementary is joining schools across the Weber School District to recognize the resilience, bravery, and unique sacrifices made by our military-connected students. From our youngest preschoolers to our sixth-grade leaders, Panther territory is home to many families who serve our country, and this month is all about celebrating the "dandelion" spirit of their children.
Why the Dandelion?
The official flower of the military child is the dandelion because it can put down roots anywhere and is almost impossible to destroy. Just like the seeds drifting in the wind, military children move frequently, adapt to new schools, and bloom wherever they are planted.
"Our military students bring a global perspective and a quiet strength to our classrooms," says the school administration. "They face unique challenges, from deployments to frequent moves, and we want them to know that here at Plain City, they have a permanent home in our Panther family."
What’s Happening at the School?
On April 15th, Plain City Elementary will be highlighting the resilient, courageous, and brave spirit of these mighty military panthers with purple up day! Students and staff are encouraged to wear purple. This color symbolizes all branches of the military coming together. Lets flood the halls with purple in celebration of of the military community here at our school.
Celebrating Every Panther
As a school community, we pride ourselves on celebrating the individual success of every student. Whether it’s a preschooler learning their first letters or a sixth grader preparing for junior high, the "Purple Up" movement reminds us that our strength comes from our diversity and our support for one another.
We invite all Plain City families to join us this month in saying "thank you" to our military . Keep an eye on our social media pages for photos of our students in action and updates on upcoming events!
Go Panthers! 🐾
