PLAIN CITY, UT — Get ready to roar, Panthers! Plain City Elementary is gearing up for a high-stakes, high-energy tradition as our 3rd through 6th-grade students prepare for the 34th Annual Weber School District STEM Olympiad.

Held on May 14 and 15, 2026, at West Field High School, this prestigious event brings together all 30 elementary schools in the district for a head-to-head celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. In an exciting twist, the Olympiad will run alongside the Iron Kid Event, making for a massive community celebration of student talent and athleticism.

The Road to the Podium

Our Panthers have been hard at work all year, sharpening their skills in classrooms. Competitions have started for students to earn their spot on the official school team. Students have been competing internally, proving their mastery in logic, spatial reasoning, and creative problem-solving.

This year, Plain City will be represented in several thrilling categories, including:

  • Krypto: A fast-paced math strategy game (3-student teams).

  • Pentominoes & Tile Trials: Challenges focused on spatial reasoning and math puzzles (2-student teams).

  • Experimental Design & Engineering: Where our future scientists and builders bring their best ideas to life.

  • Sphero Challenge: An exclusive coding and robotics event for our 6th-grade leaders.

More Than Just a Competition

The STEM Olympiad isn't just for the competitors. The district is hosting a Mini STEM Expo featuring interactive booths and activities led by high school clubs, local athletic teams, and community organizations. It’s the perfect opportunity for our younger preschool through 2nd-grade Panthers to get inspired for their future turns in the arena!

How You Can Support

We want to see a sea of white, blue, and black in the stands supporting our panthers! Parents and guardians are highly encouraged to attend and cheer on our teams.

The district is also looking for volunteers to help ensure the event runs smoothly. If you’d like to represent Plain City by lending a hand, please contact Maggie Huddleston at mahuddleston@wsd.net.
