PLAIN CITY, UT — Local families and commuters should prepare for upcoming traffic adjustments as a major road infrastructure project is scheduled to begin this month. Starting Tuesday, July 7th, a significant portion of 3600 West will undergo full road reconstruction.
The affected construction zone will span from 1975 N up to 2600 N, directly impacting the main thoroughfare running past local landmarks, including Kent’s Market and Plain City Elementary School.
According to officials, the designated zone will be marked as "Road Closed: Local Traffic Only." While through-traffic will be detoured, accommodations are being coordinated to ensure residents and essential services maintain access to homes and properties within the construction boundaries.
School District Actively Monitoring Progress
With the school year just around the corner, administrators at Plain City Elementary and officials within the Weber School District are working proactively to ensure the project minimizes disruptions for returning students.
District representatives confirmed they are closely monitoring the construction timeline and are remaining in continuous communication and collaboration with project managers, contractors, and city personnel.
"We are entirely committed to keeping our community updated on any developments that may impact Plain City Elementary," a school representative shared. "Our priority is ensuring a safe, smooth transition back to the classroom for all of our Panthers."
Back-to-School Timeline Remains Unchanged
Despite the large scale of the roadwork, school officials delivered reassuring news for parents finalizing their late-summer plans: Plain City Elementary will still open its doors as scheduled on Monday, August 24th.
While school operations will begin on time, parents and bus drivers are advised to plan for potential minor delays and look out for adjusted traffic patterns when dropping off or picking up students during the initial weeks of the school year.
Project coordinators note that construction schedules are always subject to minor shifts depending on weather conditions and material availability. Further updates regarding specific traffic routing or safety guidelines will be shared via the school’s official website and social media channels as the August start date approaches.
School administration expressed deep gratitude to the Plain City community in advance for their patience, caution, and cooperation as these vital infrastructure improvements are completed.
