PLAIN CITY, UT — Plain City Elementary is thrilled to welcome Emily Mangum as our brand-new principal! Bringing a rich background in elementary education, literacy leadership, and administrative expertise, Principal Mangum is eager to step into Panther territory and get to know our students, teachers, and families.

A Journey Across the Country & Back to Utah

Originally from Redding, California, Principal Mangum’s passion for education has taken her from the West Coast to the East Coast, teaching in Virginia and eventually North Carolina, where she earned her Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree at the University of North Carolina (Go Tarheels!).

In 2014, she followed her heart back to the Ogden area to be near her family. She joined Weber School District, teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades at Hooper Elementary before serving for seven years as a Reading Specialist and Instructional Coach at Lomond View Elementary. For the past two years, she served as an administrative intern, preparing her for this exciting leadership role at Plain City Elementary.

Beyond her dedication to academic success and student growth, Principal Mangum brings vibrant energy and fun to our school:

• Sports Enthusiast: She grew up playing basketball and softball and is up for almost any sport. On weekends, you’ll likely find her cheering on BYU football or catching a college basketball game.

• Family First: As the youngest of five siblings, she takes her role as "favorite aunt" very seriously and loves spoiling her nieces and nephews.

• Sense of Humor: She loves to laugh and admits with a smile that she never takes herself too seriously!
