PLAIN CITY, Utah — Plain City Elementary School is inviting all Panther parents and guardians to campus for an upcoming Parent Literacy Night on Thursday, November 12th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
The evening is designed to equip families across all grade levels with practical, high-impact strategies to support reading development at home.
As part of Weber School District’s commitment to early literacy and student achievement, the event will break down essential reading skills into simple, actionable steps parents can easily use during home study time.
Attendees will explore key topics including:
Letter Names & Sounds: Core foundations for early readers.
Phonics & Sounding Out Words: Blending techniques to build decoding confidence.
Fluency & Comprehension: Strategies to boost reading speed, expression, and understanding.
Individual Reading Plan (IRP) Q&A: A dedicated session to clarify personal reading goals and support plans for students.
Family Support Resources: Partnering with West Weber Communities That Care to connect families with community wrap-around support.
"Our goal is to build strong bridges between the classroom and home," school leaders shared. "When parents feel confident helping their children with phonics, fluency, and comprehension, our Panther students thrive."
Whether parents are supporting a preschooler taking their very first steps into reading or a sixth grader refining complex comprehension skills, the night promises valuable takeaways for every stage of learning.
Plain City Elementary encourages all families to wear their school colors and join in supporting the school's growing readers.
