Halloween at Plain City Elementary was an absolute blast! 🎃👻

Our Panthers had a "spooktacular" Friday showing off their creative costumes during our annual Halloween parade, waving to parents, and celebrating with fun classroom parties and games! From superheroes and astronauts to cow costumes and cowboys, our students and staff brought so much spirit to the halls. 🕸️✨

Meet Mrs. Leslie Wentz, one of our amazing 1st grade teachers here at Plain City Elementary! Mrs. Wentz has been a key part of our PCES family for 10 years, starting out as a long-term substitute before leading her own 1st grade classroom. Her favorite subject to teach is Math, and her big hope for every student who enters her room is that they learn "how to be the best version of themselves!"

🐾 Happy 2nd Quarter, Panther Families! 🐾

As we kick off a new quarter, we are gearing up for one of our favorite traditions—the annual Plain City Elementary Halloween Parade! 🎃✨ Here is everything you need to know to make sure our Panthers have a safe, fun, and memorable day.

📅 Parade Details:

When: Friday, October 30 at 9:00 AM

Where: Outdoors! The PTA will have the route clearly roped off for spectator safety and convenience. Feel free to bring a lawn chair to sit and enjoy the show! 🪑

Weather Watch: 🌤️ We are keeping a close eye on the weather forecast. If rain forces us to move indoors, we will send an update via email/message as quickly as possible.

🎭 Costume Guidelines:
To ensure all of our students (Preschool through 6th grade!) stay safe and comfortable throughout the school day:
❌ No Masks: Full visibility is required while walking with classes.
❌ No Weapons: Absolutely no weapons—real, toy, or prop—are permitted on school grounds.
🎨 Light Face Makeup Only: Please keep face paint light so students stay comfortable all day in class!

🍽️ Lunch & Visitor Reminder:
With so many fun events and visitors coming up over the next few months, we also want to share a gentle reminder: If you are joining your student for lunch, please use our designated parent table in the cafeteria. For safety and dietary guidelines, please bring/provide food for your student(s) only.

Our 3rd graders in Mrs. Moyes class have been diving into math in a whole new way, learning that time is a continuous measurement! To bring the concept to life, students put their estimation skills to the test with some fun hands-on challenges. They made their best guesses and used stopwatches to discover how many seconds it really takes to complete everyday tasks, like:

🚶‍♂️ Walking a complete lap around the classroom

✍️ Writing their full name three times

💪Completing 10 pushups

A true Plain City native, Mrs. Moyes grew up attending PCES and was inspired by her own teachers to step into the classroom! Now in her 5th year teaching at PCES, she brings so much kindness, energy, and warmth to our school. Her co-workers love working alongside her, and her students adore being in her class! With her infectious optimism and passion for math, she makes learning fun every single day.

🎃 Annual Plain City Elementary Halloween Parade! 🎃 Dear Panther Families and Friends, Halloween is quickly approaching, and we are so excited for our annual Halloween Parade! This is always a beloved tradition here at Plain City Elementary, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our amazing community. 📅 Date: Friday, October 30, 2026 ⏰ Time: Parade starts promptly at 9:00 AM 🗺️ Parade Route: Begins on the south side of the playground (car circle side) and continues around the back of the school to the north side field. Look for the path marked off by our awesome PTA! To ensure a safe and fun morning for all of our students from preschool through 6th grade, please keep the following guidelines in mind: Costume Reminders for Students: • Arrive at school already dressed in costume. • Safety First: Full-face masks and weapons (real or simulated) are strictly prohibited. • Face Paint: Keep it minimal so your student’s face remains recognizable (no full face paint). • Family-Friendly: Please avoid blood or gore. Keep costumes appropriate for all age groups and avoid culturally insensitive or stereotypical costumes. • Accessories: Keep handheld props/accessories at home so they don’t get lost during the busy day. Miss G, our school counselor, and Mrs. Mangum, our school principal, brought all the smiles today welcoming our students to school in their finest turtle and unicorn outfits! Who do you think you’ll spot greeting students tomorrow? 🤔✨

🚨 IMPORTANT DROP-OFF & PICK-UP REMINDER 🚨

Parents, please do not pull into the small staff parking lot on the north side of the school!

1️⃣ First, these magical creatures have made it their new home! 🐢🦄

2️⃣ Second, pulling in there violates our safety protocols for drop-off and pick-up and delays our school buses from parking and safely unloading our students.

Please use our usual drop-off route located on the south end of the school to keep all of our Panthers safe and our mornings running smoothly! 🐾💙🖤🤍
